At Cosgrove Village Primary School, we use Kingswood Catering to provide all our school meals.

Kingswood Catering have put together healthy, nutritious meal options which not only cater for a wide range of choices, and dietary needs, but also taste good and can be enjoyed by your child. They understand that the parent knows their child's needs and preferences best and, therefore, give you the ability to select their dinners from our five different options.

 

 

How much does a primary school meal cost?

From September 2024, the cost of a school meal is £2.53 per day or £12.65 per week.

N.B. A 10p transaction fee applies per paid online order.

How do I place an order on-line?

The deadline for online orders is Wednesday at 11.59pm for the following Monday. As a registered parent you will receive an email on a Tuesday to remind you that the deadline is approaching.

I have missed the deadline. What can I do?

If you miss the deadline call us on 01536 201203 before 11am on Thursday and they will help you if they can . Unfortunately, they will be unable to take any late orders after this time.

My child was absent from school today can I have a school meal refund?

Cancellations can be accepted up until midnight the day before the meal is due to be taken, please telephone the Kingswood office on 01536 201203. If there is nobody to accept the cancellation please leave an answerphone message stating clearly your child's school, name and the reason for cancellation. Alternatively you can email them before midnight on with the relevant information.

My child is a fussy eater how do you cope with this?

The schools lunchtime staff are very observant and they will let you know if your child is not eating properly.Kingswood are sensitive to the needs of your child and they will not be forced to eat anything they don’t like. However they always put every item of the menu on their plate even if it’s only a tiny amount, in order to encourage them to try.

Can you cater for children with food allergies?

Yes they can cater for children with allergies. Please call Kingswood on 01536 201203 or send us an email on and they will try to help you.

 

Free School Meals

From September 2014 all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be entitled to free school meals as part of the Government Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme (UIFSM). 

To obtain Free School Meals from Year 3 onwards, you need to apply directly to West Northamptonshire Council.

Free meals are available to any full-time student who is eligible and still at school. This includes nursery children (who attend full days) and also sixth form students.

Meals are not available for students at further education level.

You can get free school meals for your child if you or your partner gets either:

  • Income Support
  • Income based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit only (with a minimum family income)
  • National Asylum Seekers Support
  • Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit
  • Employments and Support Allowance - Income Related only

Please note: If you are currently in receipt of Working Tax Credit then you do not qualify for free school meals.

Apply online

You can apply online and get an immediate answer. Your child's school will be notified within five working days if you are eligible.

Make a paper application

Alternatively you can apply by sending in a paper application form which you can either obtain from your school or by downloading the PDF form from our download page or by contacting the Free School Meal Team.

You will need to supply the following details to allow your application to be assessed:

  • Your National Insurance Number
  • Your date of birth
  • Your surname
  • Your full address
  • Your child(ren)'s details

Boys and Girls:

Black shoes - pupils may not wear trainers (except for PE), flip flops or beach shoes.

Navy fleeces for outdoor wear are also available from Maisies.

PE Kit:

Navy shorts and a pale blue t-shirt, plimsolls/trainers.

A navy blue tracksuit for outdoor PE in colder weather.

During swimming, boys should wear swimming trunks and girls should wear an all-in-one swim suit.

Hair should be worn in a reasonable conventional style and long hair must be tied back for health and safety reasons. No extreme hair styles please; this includes un-natural colours.

Jewellery must not be worn in school. However, if your child has pierced ears, small studs are permitted. These MUST be removed by the child for PE.  Children are allowed to wear a watch. Mobile phones are not permitted in school.

Please label all clothing and equipment with your child’s name.
